Not only that a unique white kimchi slaw is added to contrast the rich flavours of the chicken-a tribute to the white daikon radishes often served alongside fried chicken and other dishes in Seoul. Chicken sandwiches, which were surging in popularity pre-pandemic, continue to resonate with consumers. It’s then dredged and breaded by hand before being fried to order. As a staple in every Korean pantry, it is used to season all kinds of stews, marinades, sauces, and more, and is always part of the samgyupsal table. To complement the gochujang, Shake Shack adds finely chop garlic and ginger into the glaze as well. Shake Shack’s chicken is fresh, never frozen, and slow-cooked sous vide-style after soaking in a buttermilk marinade. This red fermented paste is oozing with umami and has a perfect balance of sweetness and spicy kick. Gochujang is a staple ingredient in Korean cooking made with red chilli peppers, sticky rice, fermented soybeans, and salt. With gochujang as the star ingredient, three new flavour-packed delicacies can be enjoyed with a sinful dalgona-like frozen custard beverage that's also a popular part of the Korean dining scene. The burger chain announced the launch of their new Korean-style Fried Chick’n Sandwich and Korean-style Gochujang Chick’n Bites at the start of the new year. Though Shake Shacks forays into the world of gochujang started in South Korea back in 2020, their arrival comes at a time when Asian-inspired flavors seem to be popping up on unexpected fast food menus. The chain announced that the sandwich would be part of a limited line of other new menu items with Korean-inspired flavors mostly including the umami-rich chili paste, gochujang available through April 5. From South Korea to the US, Shake Shack's take on the famous Korean fried chicken is now available for a limited time in Manila. The chicken sandwich wars continue as Shake Shack kicks off 2021 by adding new fried chicken items to their menu.
